A longitudinal data analytics application designed around one clearly bounded business system.

Not every system can be responsibly examined through a pre-existing industry framework. Its domains, measures, units of analysis, evidence cycles, and decision questions may require an architecture of their own.

The Bespoke Coherence Diagnostic is designed for those systems.

Semétrie™ defines the system, develops a research-grounded measurement architecture, aligns relevant evidence over time, and determines whether the system remains coherent or is becoming falsely stable, structurally dependent, fragmented, or deteriorating.

This is not a generic analytics exercise or a universal scorecard. The application is built around measures that are relevant to the system and capable of supporting the question being asked.

The Question

Every Bespoke Coherence Diagnostic begins with one central question:

Does movement across the system’s key domains still form a coherent state, or has the structure beneath the headline result begun to weaken?.

A system can appear stable while its domains move in opposing directions. One measure may remain strong while relationships elsewhere begin to deteriorate. Improvement in one area may conceal increasing dependence, fragmentation, or risk across the wider system. Semétrie™ distinguishes between those states.

Each Diagnostic is built around one clearly bounded business or organisational system.

Depending on the engagement, the system may be an organisation, operating unit, product or service ecosystem, platform, portfolio, regional market, category, cohort, or another defined system with evidence that can be compared over time.

The unit of analysis, system boundary, review period, and decision context are agreed before the analytical work begins.

Significant events or changes can be recorded as context entering the system. Their significance is examined through the movement they produce across the wider evidence base rather than judged in isolation.

Unlike the regional luxury retail application, the Bespoke Coherence Diagnostic does not begin with a fixed measurement framework.

Semétrie™ first establishes which domains are substantively related to the system, which measures are defensible, and whether the available evidence can support a longitudinal diagnosis.

The architecture may draw on sector-relevant research, established instruments or frameworks, approved internal business data, and other appropriate evidence.

Both quantitative measures and structured qualitative judgements may be included where they can be clearly defined, documented, and compared consistently.

Semétrie™ does not create arbitrary domains from whatever data happens to be available, nor does it force unrelated measures into one artificial score. Each domain retains its own meaning, direction, and movement.

Where valid historical measurements already exist, Semétrie™ can reconstruct change retrospectively. Where no reliable baseline exists, the Diagnostic establishes the first valid baseline and makes the limits of the initial reading explicit.

The Diagnostic examines:

  • the direction and magnitude of movement across the relevant domains;
  • whether the relationships between those domains continue to support the same interpretation;
  • whether apparent strength depends too heavily on one part of the system;
  • whether stability is genuine or conceals opposing movement;
  • whether coherence is holding or weakening;
  • which Semétrie Pattern Taxonomy™ state the evidence supports;
  • which measured inputs are carrying the analytical result.

The system may be classified as coherent, falsely stable, structurally dependent, fragmented, deteriorating, or another state supported by the evidence.

Where the available evidence supports it, the analysis may also include trajectory modelling, coherence-risk classification, and explainable driver analysis. Where it does not, Semétrie™ reports the observed movement without extending the claim.

Leadership receives an independent diagnosis of what the system is becoming, not only a summary of its latest results.

The work clarifies which assumptions remain supported, which relationships have weakened, where confidence exceeds the evidence, and whether one domain is carrying more of the apparent result than it should.

It also establishes what the available evidence can support, what remains uncertain, and where further measurement may be required.

The advantage is a stronger basis for deciding what to continue, investigate, redesign, protect, slow, or question before the next commitment is made.

Where leadership needs the reading carried forward, the Diagnostic can continue through Bespoke Coherence Continuity.

Continuity preserves the measurement architecture established by the Diagnostic so that each new cycle remains comparable with the original baseline and the cycle before it.

Each formal review identifies whether earlier weaknesses are resolving, becoming persistent, or developing into structural dependence, fragmentation, or deterioration. It also examines whether new strength is broad-based or concentrated, whether relationships are returning to alignment, and whether the structure of risk has changed.

New evidence, operating changes, product developments, interventions, or other significant events can be added as context without replacing the underlying measurement system.

The reporting rhythm is determined by how the system produces reliable evidence. Different domains may be refreshed at different intervals, with the full evidence base reconciled at agreed review points to preserve comparability.

The recurring executive brief explains what the latest evidence has changed about the system-level interpretation, why the reading moved, and what that movement means for the next decision.

Continuity is not a separate methodology. It carries the Bespoke Diagnostic baseline forward as the system evolves.
